I recently picked up an s13 with a red top sr swap, it is in need of a maf. i tried it and it worked but when i go to drive it starts acting funny. first it freaks out at like 2k i feather the gas and it gets to 3k i feather it again and it gets 4k and so on, one time though it acted perfectly fine i got threw a few gears with out any bogging, but it didnt pull very hard. I was thinking fuel issues cuz it has a single cam fuel filter but i dont think it would cause this much problems, i was also thinking it could be timing. Any idea's or suggestions on what to check would be appreciated. thanks!

Wait so you changed the MAF already? A boost leak will act like a maf sensor problem too.

yea i tried a maf and it solved the bogging at 2500 rpms at idel but when it has a load on the motor it acts funny. I actually found a leak from the hot pipe to the intercooler, could that be the reason for the weirdness when im driving?

O yeah. Boost leaks will make it run horrible.

Yes?

You fixed the hot pipe to intercooler? Look for more they can some times be a pain in the a** to find... Your right a jumped timing chain could cause this too so check your timing. Throttle cable will only cause not to go 100% throttle not really a drive ability problem.

i didnt find anymore boost leaks...i replaced the fuel filter with one off of a tt 300zx so thats not the issue either

but a loose throttle cable wouldnt cause crappy ideling right?

I've already ran them at idle after doing a swap with no cable... so it shouldn't act up

ok cool i didnt think it would effect that, probably just throttle response. ive noticed that when i ran my friends maf we also used a piece that goes from the intake to the valve cover and it ideld perfectly fine, so i think imm try that again cuz the filter on the valve cover is pretty loose and ghetto rigged.

ok a new intake solved the ideling issue but ut still boggs when i drive? could that be timing? or maybe a fuel issue? i might try a walbro 255.

Check the TPS sensor resistance. Use this http://www.240sx.org/faq/artic...m.htm

Hell Yeah even stalling but knowing these cars it could be a combination of things like

1. timing2. Maf3. Vacuum leak4. Bad injector5. Knock sensor and so on that's just from top of my head.

Just check till u find the problem. And search the forum for this, there are like a hundred posts on this issue.

Like he said. Also, is it running rich? If so it could be the CTS. Also check your CAS. Checking your ECU for codes is always a good place to start.
