i got a 89 hatch with a red top swap and it was auto but we converted it to man. we wired the inside and outside harnesses and jumped the neutral safety and she ran good. so we turned it off and tried again and ran great again. well few weeks later we got time to work on it it again and it bucked like it wanted to stall and shut off and it has fuel but is not getting power to the fuel pump on the inside so if anyone knows plz help and suggest are better than nothing lol.

Check and test the fuel pump fuse, EGI relay(fuel pump relay). If the the ecu does not prime, and the fuel pump, fuses and relays check out. You can jump the relay, bypassing the ecu's trigger. Make a jumper wire connect ( looking down into the empty relay socket) 2 or 4 to 3 this will power the pump until you turn the key to off.

[1] [2] [3][4]

This problem is common, It's either a fried track in the ecu, broken pin or wire.which is 104. if you ever let that pink and black wire see a 12v source, it will fry if not, it will burn the track in the ecu.

its getting power to the egi (the fuel pump fuse) but not in the hatch. it acted like it was running out of gas but it was 1/2 tank. but we tested the harness and nothing in the connector in the rear hatch harness plug.

i thought the relay turn the fuel pump on to pressurize the fuel lines then turned off till it was need again like a syphon and would that get in the way of running and aftermarket computer or any air/fuel meter.

ok all the fuse under the hood are fine and relays. but im still getting no power to the fuel pump harness in the rear hatch and bye jumping the relay will this effect putting in any electronics for fuel mods or gauges. lol plus i know the fuel pump shut off when the car does and turns on when it does. but i thought the relay kept it fro getting to hot and catching fire.

the fuel pump runs on 12 volts. the reley acts as a switch when it gets signal from the ecu it turns on the pump..sounds to me like you arent getting signal from the ecu to the reley

u think it could be the ignitor chip but wht your saying is that it will b safe to jump it and there will b no interfierence with electronics for fuel mods being hookedup

You need to open up your ecu...I bet you have a burnt spot in your computer...there are topics on nico on how to fix the ecu issue. If you jump the fuel pump you could cause other issues if done improperly

if, and when you open up your ecu and determine whether or not it is damaged is when I would look for a s13 ecu red or blacktop...as long as it isn't the typex you will be ok.
