Is that dirt underneath, or is that how the paint's supposed to be?? My black top KA owns all. :pface

i have some swirl marks from the sander/grinder it makes it looke like it has a hint of marble. there are little specks of dirt on the top coat cause i thought the paint was dry 14 hours after and i had it upside down on a rubber mat while i put in the gasket. it sux but i'm going to have the cover sand blasted and the paint baked on to have it done right.

the only thing that would make that look better is if you sand down the lettering so it shows brushed aluminum... but other than that, the paint looks pretty good =)

Thanks guys.

If any one wants to try the same use some of the dupli-color metalcast and make swirl marks when you’re sanding with a sanding disc on an air dremel tool.

Sand blasting the cover first would be best.

Use adheasion promotor first then paint. use as directed. oh yeah it helps if you can bake it on. but you can just let it sit for like 24 hours and try to keep dust and dirt away from the cover while painting/drying. or else you will have dirt stuck to the paint like i do.

I done the same (Red Top) I bought the Dupli-Color Engine Enamel with CERAMIC (Lol) And The Clearcoat for it...i just cleaned the heck out of my engine...and taped and newspaper'd off everything and put 2 coats of red and 2 coats of clear coat...and i just painted over the oil cap and spark plug wires b/c I am gonna get new sparks and that same oil cap that you got, to match my AEM intake...cept mine is chrome...they didn't have any red in stock so i settled with chrome...Oh...btw mine looks just fine

I disagree completely. SR=too expensive and too common. Not enough power for the work/money involved.

You are nutz, N00b!!!Ka's, even Dohc's, in the states are more common than the fleas on a dog's back!!! they're a dime a dozen!!! SR's are a rare 4 cyl. gem which actually lives up to the performance aspect of Nissans. Show me a KA that does the same and as BAD. You dont know anything. OBVIOUSLY. This isnt some riceboy honda civic motor, they are rare and expensive!

They are too common of an engine swap. If I am going to spend that much money I want more power, and more rarity. Not "oh,you got an SR too" . I don't like the SR; How does that mean I don't know anything? What's rare about them? Everywhere I go I get "y0 you dorit0 dat? mad tYte y0 Sr20 in dat ****?" How is that rare? Yes I am nuts. I never brought the KA into conversation,I was refering to SWAPPED engines not stock USDM engines. You say yourself that the SR is expensive, exactly my point! Too much money for the power. You get what? 220whp if your lucky on a stock SR ?

Thats it? Worse than I thought. Whats so great about spending 2Gs on an engine and getting that little power from it? I promise you I could easily make more out of a KA with the same budget as a stock SR swap. Ouch man...very ouch!!!
