ok everyone knows that if you run straight through a red light in an intersection where there are cameras, you'll get a ticket in the mail. well, in California it's ok to turn right on a red light but i guess technically you're supposed to make a complete stop first. could you get a ticket from the cameras if you don't make a complete stop? i was turning right and there was a huge line of cars and there light just turned green, i could safely turn the corner without slowing anyone down or anything if i went without making a complete stop. so i did, and i saw a billion flashes from the cameras. was it cuz of me? or someone else near me? if it was me, could i fight it and say i did make a complete stop before going forward?

I got one of those right turn on a red tickets. tried to fight it, but a lot of information is taken with the pictures (time, speed, time after the light red, maybe something else). I ended up having the fine reduced

I not exactly sure whats going on in your situation, if you do end up getting a ticket you might have a case.

I've have learned 2 things about tickets 1. admit to nothing, and 2. fight every thing.

^Trap cameras? Don't know what you're talking about.

And I doubt that you can fight this. They installed one of those cameras at an intersection about a mile from my house and my bro got two tickets over the course of about a month for doing that exact thing. He paid about 600+ in tickets.

if the person appearing in the photo is not you, the ticket gets dismissed. my car is registered in my mom's name and my name and the insurance is in her name. everything that has ever come in the mail about my car says her name (not mine). therefore if the ticket comes saying her name, she just goes to court and says its not her and i don't look like an older woman with a scarf so ya, they'll know its not her lol and you don't have to say who was actually driving the car. so it gets dismissed....... hopefully lol

I would think twice about taking some of the advice offered so far.

The way it works in Maryland is that redlight tickets are treated like parking tickets. For a prking ticket - it doesnt matter who was actually driving the car. There are no points, or moving violations - but the registered owner of the car is responsible for the ticket-period. If you ignore the ticket you will pay penalty fee - three or more unanswered red light and/or parking tickets results in a boot.

Good Luck.

thanks. i guess ill just have the see when i get it in the mail..... i wish cali was like that! i wouldn't give a **** if it was like a parking ticket, i'd just help out at my mosque and have them write it off as community service and not pay anything and get no points lol but here in cali they give points on your record. so if you're going to get a point on your record, they have to determine it is actually you driving.

Thats all they want anyway. = for the wallet.

Back on topic, maybe the flashes from all the cameras are just because they take a picture of every car? Let's hope thats it and nobody gets a ticket. I'm not very familiar with those red light cams, but I'm starting to see them pop up around town.

Can't say for Cali, but when I got mine they took at least 3 pics of me, one to get my speed as entered the intersection, onother to show me in the intersectin with the red light and another while I was driving away, all pics have a time stamp and show your speed

In Maryland, you can contest the ticket for both the Traffic Light Cam and Speed Cam. Your ONLY hope is to request a calibration certificate for the specific camera. There are also specific Federal Regulations as to it placement and use. For example, a Speed Cam CAN NOT be located in the area of a traffic signal, or highway on/ off ramp. Also, there must be a traffic study performed in the location for the system, it must be authorized by the State DOT prior to activation.

Either way, there are no point assigned, and your insurance can not go up.

i had a camera go off on me a couple months ago when i was making a right turn. never got a ticket in the mail, so it's probably just the camera taking pictures. I was stopped for a good while too, so it makes no sense for it to go off.

also, i'm fairly sure it's considered a moving violation in cali
