so im about to get another car and it wont come with a radio. ive done the whole blue scheme in my previous car, ie, blue gauges, neons, headunit, pretty much everything lasted. well im done with blue and want to try another color. so i might as well start with a fresh car.

so any suggestions on a nice RED headunit ? price range of like $200-300. thanks

Never heard of anyone changing the illumination on an HU, but I know several come with switchable illumination.

Not to challenge your idea/quest, but should the illumination color really be a driving factor in you HU choice??

(just the old guy asking questions)

Haha, I was just about to say the same thing! :)

Don't go with Xplod. My friend bought two of them and they both broke within 3 months of purchase.

ayjay's right (again), most of the Sony Xplode line (of crap, sorry my 2 cents) has a heavy Red colored theme.

Here's an example with one of their subs

don't think anyone else makes a red themed head unit... if you wanna go red, you gotta go with, you guessed it, "crap"... i think JVC makes a half decent unit with some nifty color changing, but like rex said, don't settle for a ****ty deck if all you're going for is color...

what color is this new car anyways? maybe we could suggest some different color schemes that would go along with some decent decks :pface

oh and rex, that's a waste of time and money that they put into that lexus... doors look pretty cool though, but prolly sound like A$$

my previous car was offwhite... i put in some blue lights in the dash that made it looked nice as well as 2 neons under the dash. had a pioneer 7400 that had a blueish controls and displayed... when all the lights were on, it looked pretty nice imo, everything matched, except the minor ac lights, but that was very minor.

new car, black. id think red accents here and there look nice on black cars, like my friends rsx, i like how his interior is :). i guess thats why im shooting for a red headunit. but i could of course go back to all blue...

ya now i see where you are going with the whole color scheme thing... but still i would not force myself to buy a ****ty deck because it's the right color... i got an eclipse 5423 and the text is white, and you have the option to change the illumination to have the majority of the buttons either red or a light green... unfortunately both rotary dials are always blue, but that would honestly not compromise your black/red theme... check it out, it's a 2003 model, you can prolly find one on ebay

hmm... yeah, i shouldnt get a ****ty deck just because of the color... i dunno what i might get, but for the ride home tomorrow im gonna have to sing to myself :(.

the eclipse 5423 looks nice, still gotta shop around... maybe back to pioneer... dunnos :(
