Red connector on 1993 240sx

earlier i was going to shine the motor up when i noticed this red connector not plugged in. its near the front of the motor(ie near the radiator) with a group of connectors around it. if i was to take a guess i would say it has something to do with the cooling system. its two pronged if that helps. ka24de motor. i plugged it back in. on a side note ive been having problems with car dieing upon cold weather days. would this be connected to connector mentioned above. any help would be appreciated. sorry but no digi cam or would take a photo to show location better. i think reason i didnt notice it earlier because its kinda under a hose. thanks in advance.
