Ok, so I found a 240sx SE right nearby for $6k, but its red. Its got ABS and I am gonna call to check it out sometime this weekend, but should color be the determining factor here? I mean, red is one of my last choices in color, but this car is fully loaded and if it is in prime condition it might be worth getting it and if the color really starts to bug me I can spend some money and repaint it. I am also checking out a non-SE this weekend in blue (#1 choice in color).

Given the opportunity, would it be better to get first choice in color or first choice in options? (red one has ABS... maybe LSD, I'll have to check) Plus I hear red cars get pulled over more... or is that just a myth?

red was one of my last choices too, but the car i got was stick, dual cam, and fastback, and those were the things that mattered to me, so i didn't mind it being red. i've had the car since early october and haven't gotten pulled over yet

if the red one is clearly better then i would go for it. you could always repaint it later on.

Car: Not a 240 =) Thinking of getting one again...

I say go with red if it has lsd and its fully loaded.... you can always repaint later on even by yourself if you have the time but if you buy a car without LSD and no options... well to put the lsd and the options will be much harder to put then changing the color right?

don't go on the color... just look at how the car is... which one is a better deal and go with that... if the red is stick, has LSD and low miles and has a good body...go with that...

Red is a myth. I have never gotten a ticket in my RED 240sx or RED Z.

I bought my Red 95 240 for around 6000. I initially didn't want Red either, i'm more of a jet black guy myself. But the color has grown on me, that and i once had someone, who obviously didn't know what he was talkin about, think my car was a Ferrari.

For me the deciding factor for me to get this car, was that it was a 240 at a place i could get it financed for. 95 and ups aren't too easy to come by here.

Hey rockenreno, that's a lot of mileage. The blue book for that mileage is only 4850. I'm selling my base 95 for 5k.(doubt I'll get it, but it's in good cond., and has 894xx, miles.) If it runs strong and sounds/looks good, I'd get it. I would love to have a red 95 SE! As far as red goes, it definately gets a lot of looks, but I have never been pulled over.

Actually, I believe it is white cars that get pulled over most often only because white is the most common car color out there. Red and black paint are the most expensive paint in the market. White is the cheapest. I went to a Honda dealership once with a friend of mine looking for an Accord. We found two identical V6 coupes, except for two things. The first one was white and the second was red. The red's price was marked up $2500 over the white one because of it's paint. Must be something with red pigments or something. Perhaps someone has an explanation for this, sorry to go off topic a little.

Anyhow, red S14's are a rare find! I would've prefered red over my goldie, but I can deal with it.

I know its a lot of mileage, but it sounds as if it has been babied. I am going to check it out, I'll let you guys know how it goes. Plus, you never get s14s in great condition for blue book value:(

Oh, another thing. My friend bought a red 3000GT VR-4 and he didn't want red. It grew on him though. We'll see how this goes for me:D

yea dude, dont base buying a car on the color, especially when it comes to buying a 240, you cant be the pickiest buyer in the world when looking for a 240, maybe a honda civic, but not the 240.

just test drove a '95 base model 240sx... first time I've even been inside one :D It was really nice though, I love the feel of the car! Only problems are its a base model, missing a hubcap, paint faded severely at some parts of roof and some scratches in front. Interior was awesome. I told the guy I was looking for around $4k for that car, no real response on that though:( Now I just await the call back from the guy with the SE so I can try that one out!:D
