Does anyone know what the little rectangular vent or something under back bumper is on the 2014 Rogue??

I wondered the same thing yesterday when washing my new Rogue. The only thing I could think of was that it was a cover for where an optional trailer hitch would go, since it's in the right spot for that. Can anyone confirm this? I couldn't find any info about it in the owner manual.

On the X-Trail (what the non-US Rogue is called) there is a rear fog lamp that goes in that space.

It's an air vent, helps relieve pressure underneath the car and improves fuel economy. This is according to a review I just watched on the Rogue 2015.

Bugger, I was thinking of installing one of these in it as a extra bottom brake light..

Anyone tried that?

If it blocks the air flow maybe I shouldn't...

I highly doubt that your mileage would drop that drastically if you blocked it.

The shape of the one you posted wont work in that spot... Look for the OEM T32 Xtrail rear fog lamp... Its made for that hole... It will fit right in. If you dont want to use it as a fog lamp, just wire it to the brake lights.

Your post seems to be cut off. Anyway, I believe the rear fog light is mandatory in the EU, but the 2nd gen Rogue's are built here in the US where there's no such requirement, so I'd venture to say the wiring isn't there.

Does anyone know what replacement bulb this light takes? I can't find anywhere that lists a bulb number for the x trail rear fog light, and to do the upgrade on my Rogue I need to get the correct socket/bulb for it.

Here is a close up of the housing from the amazon page - almost looks like a 194 / 168 but seems not quite right to me:

1) The rear fog light assembly
2) 7440 socket
