I just got a vlsd from a 95 j30 with an unknown amount of miles on it.

I was just wondering what I can do to get it into top shape before I put it into my car. What brand of fluid have you guys used in vlsds? Thanks.

I do not think the Viscous coupling is servicable. Secondly, the dear oil you use does not affect the LSD action. The coupling is a sealed unit. Your choice of gear oil will only affect the gears. So in otherwords, nothing special is needed.
