I've got my car now and I want to optimize it's potential and live up to it's legendary reputatation, unfortunatly I'm on a budget. If anyone could list some ways to efficiently and cheaply boost acceleration or handling that would be helpful. (ie bolt-on parts for the KA24DE and your result)

Motor:Intake/header/exhaust will get you some, but not as much as you probably want. A small shot of nitrous could be good, or just save for forced induction.

Handling:Whiteline sway bars, subframe spacers, springs/shocks will seriously tighten up your handling for a lesser price. Z32 front brakes are a HUGE improvement over stock s13 brakes and can be had on a budget.

Energy Suspension bushings or just polyurethane bushings in general (as well as the subframe spacers previously mentioned) are going to be a big improvement over your 10+ year old X many miles bushings.

Sway bars and springs/shocks are going to be the other big things. Specifically the latter if it still has the factory shocks. Springs, of course, get rid of unsightly wheel gap on top of handling benifits. Sway bars are a big improvement. Bigger than strut bars.

Z32 brakes aren't really needed unless you're fading the stock ones. Chances are stainless steel lines, better brake fluid, and some auto-x compound pads will be enough of an improvment. Remember, brakes don't stop the car. The friction between your tires and the road does.

With that in mind, if you want wheels stick with 15's so you can get really good tires really cheap.

The tire and brake bit are what I would have done if I had been more eductated when I first started modding my 240sx. Ya live and ya learn though.

Edit: Power doesn't come cheap. If it is cheap it's also probably DIY and will take a ton of your time making it work. On that note search for ITB's and swapping SOHC pistons into your DOHC. Add some cams and a header and you should be in pretty good shape.

Another way to speed up your car in all situations (including braking) is to make it lighter.
