40psi if you want good mileage and 35psi if you want softer ride.

Would 5 psi really change the mileage?

It all depends on your tire. Max pressure is written on the sidewall of it. Set it about 10 psi below that number, and your set.

5psi difference can effect your mileage by about 2-3%. not that much unless you're a hypermiling fanatic

When I installed the tires I set the pressure at 35 psi for each tire. So today, I went to the dealership to reset the light for the TPMS. The light appeared off when I left, then when I got onto the highway the light started blinking, then steady. When I got home I checked the pressure on all tires and the fronts were at 40 and the rear are both at 39. They obviously put air in the tires without consulting me or letting me know for the future.

I do want to add that the ride was noticeably rougher on the way home and I felt every bump in the road. Does anyone have any suggestions to what may have happened or why they may have added the air and lastly what the pressure should be? I have Yokohama yk520 225/45/18.

Thanks

it might be that your drive home heated up your tires and gave you a higher reading since air expands as it gets hotter. im pretty sure that tires read higher psi when then warm then when there cold. your drive home might be the culprit
