Gang-

Only a month after getting a clean bill of health from T3's Ty in Atlanta (thanks for the recommendation, Wes, they were GREAT!) for my '94 Q45, I now get the infamous fuel smell (from the engine compartment, with no visible leaks) which usually points to the dreaded Plenum job.

I've seen quite a few in this forum that turn this work into a weekend project, since it is rather involved, but I do see many "non-standard" implementations for a long-lasting repair.

Is there some sort of recommended "kit" that covers all of the hoses, and possibly the knock sensors (mine still work, but who knows when they'll need to go, hence, it may be the time anyway?). Or, is there some better-than-original hose that should be used?

Of course, the alternative would be to simply let T3 do it...but they're probably sick of that work....

Regards!

T3 is never sick of work, as money is the only thing that keeps the doors open. Now that S. Cobb is back to 3-1/2 techs everyone must be fed.

Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale can hook you up and will know exactly what you need. Some of the hoses you can substitute but it's tough to know which ones when you are ordering. Plus you don't want to be in the middle of the job and have to go out for more parts. It's a little spendy for the entire kit, about ~$700.

The fuel smell doesn't necessarily mean you need the plenum job. I have had, as well as a few others, a leak on a small fuel line behind the plenum that just needed a couple hose clamps tightened. It's tight and a little tricky to get in there but I did it without removing the plenum and it hasn't smelled of fuel since.

plenum hose kit including knockers and harness is $855 from Joe at I.O.S.

Buy kit, have T3 install, return anything Byron feels didnt need replacing.

Might as well reseal valve covers and change plugs while you are there

$2000 total parts and labor for above procedure,no worries for next 100K
