ok....time for oil change....and i would like to know what kind of oil i should put in? Read the manual and it says 5w30, but the car now has over 200k miles on it, so i was wondering if i should still use that. Also what kind of brands do you guys(gals) put in?

you know, ive read a lot of posts on oil and im still confused.
id think a heavier oil like 10w30 for a high mileage engine. when the rings wear down it helps keep it from burning oil. if it doesnt burn oil maybe you should stick with it.
theres dozens of different additives and oil with additives but they can create sludge build ups. i dont what to tell you man. i've heard if a high mileage car has been run on conventional oil switching to synthetic can cause some issues. they're thinner and can get past the rings and seals easier. theres also detergents in them that can dislodge all types of crap. could try an oil wash with seafoam to clean up some of the carbon deposits. as for the oil?????? 5 or 10w30 something

the other 143k motor is getting a seafoam oil wash then i'm in the same boat as you.
my domestic has 169k and i dump 1/2 bottle off "tuff oil" additive in it for the winter to get through the cold starts

since you live in orlando you dont have to worry about harsh winters effects on your car. You can go with a thicker oil. On any high mileage engine really 10w30 is the thinnest you should be running. Do not use oil additives! They can gum up your engine!
