I searched and saw some topics but some were from way back when with broken links and such so I couldn't get all the info I wanted. I figure a new topic should be okay since it's been like two years since the last one, from what the search function told me.

Anyway, I noticed a lot of hate on Fram filters, so what are you guys using? A bunch of people mentioned OEM filters being the best, maybe that's the path I should take. There's a Nissan dealer like two minutes from my house, could I get an OEM filter straight from there? Or should I just go to the store and get a filter there, and if so, which one would be best?

Planning to change the oil/filter on my KA this weekend.

FRAM, haha j/k. Pretty much anything but Fram. Read the comparisons online if you want to make up your own mind.

Look for an O-ring seal instead of the flat rubber washer. I had trouble with the orange death coming unscrewed.

yeah and im sure it costs 30bucks

puralator will work.even a K&N filter is unneeded.

long as you don't run your oil forever just about any filter should be fine..

but like TMS said you'd have to worry about cheapones coming loose.

I use K&N Performance Gold oil filters, part number HP2008. They run pretty expensive at about $13.50, but they're the ones I trust and they sell them at any auto parts store. I've heard good things about Nissan's OEM filter, but I hate having to visit my local Nissan dealer here in Miami. It's full of know it all douche bags.

K&N cost a little more, but I like knowing how much R&D they put into their products. It makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside when a company has a slogan like "Our Oil Filters Have Nuts."

can you give me a fancy link to the rb20 parts list?

ive used wix and kn and they work fine. if you change your oil every 3k you shouldnt have to really worry about it. but dont get fram.. the **** sucks. and i work at jiffy lube and all they offer is fram or frams little red headed step child(forgot name), which is like putting on a broken condom.. it doesnt work really well now does it.. or you can bring your own.

Bosch makes great products. I bought a Bosch ignition coil for my Dad's air cooled Volkswagen because of all the good reviews I read for it online.

I've only heard good things about Bosch.

purolater on everything, car, bike, truck changed out every 1000 miles except the truck gets changed every 5000. factory filters use cardboard bypass valves and crap springs. save up like $40 buck and cut some apart. you will learn lots and find out which one is built better. i have found some k&n's actually had dirt in them from the box.

the purone purolator (gold one) filters have the best filtration at 99.9% where the mobil 1 has 99.8 and the k&n has like 99.3% the fram extra guard is like 98%. Working at a parts store teaches you a lot of random crap. so basically the k&n is useful but over priced there are better ones. And if you want good oil flow look at the holes on the filter, whichever one has the biggest holes give you the most oil flow for cooling. And the fact that the k&n has some ridiculous pressure tolerance, but if your oil gets that pressurized the filter is your last spot of concern . And purolator has been around longer than all the other filter makers out there too.
