Hi there, I really dislike the super-universal type of receiver mounting kits, so I'm looking for recommendations. I have tried Circuit City, WalMart, and even a local stereo shop for previous cars. I am looking for one (for my '92 240sx) which actually holds the stereo in securely(ie it won't slip into the dash). The one's I'v tried never seem to utilize all the stock screw mounts. This is a single-DIN receiver BTW. A pocket would be nice. So in short I need to fill out the dash hole, and keep it good and steady.

Also what should I do about the rear-support bracket? I have never owned a car that made it easy to use the mounting stud in the rear of a receiver. In my 240sx, there are two angled brackets on the transmission 'hump', but then end below where a receiver would sit. Maybe they were cut by the previous owner??

Anyways, thanks for reading. I can't wait to get my Pioneer in(an '03 CD/MP3 model). I'v already taken the liberty of disabling the rear stock amp, and am working on front ones. I'll have to deal w/stock speakers for a little while.

Regards,-Jamie

Don't use a kit at all! for the best looking & most secure mounting method. I have the part #s in my tool box. I'll bring them home and post tomorrow night. You will need to either buy a pocket also from Nissan or from a supplier of products like Best Kits model UPK750

Yeah that's certainly an option. I was really looking for the best pre-fab'd/mfg'd. That pocket looks OK, but how do you fasten it to the rest of the stereo bezel without a 'seam'? Hook me up w/those p/n's when you get them.

Any other suggestions? What about the rear support?Thanx,-Jamie

Ok well I'v got a stock pocket and OEM brackets, I just need a good bezel/surround now. You have a part number for those? I was suprised to find that circuit city didn't list *any* kits for my car. Does this mean I'm gonna have to deal with an ugly gap in my dash?

Did you buy the factory pocket? if you did you need to remove a small edge of the plastic on the top of the pocket. The part numbers for the OEM brackets are Right bracket, 28038-35f00. And the Left bracket is 28039-35F00. If you cut the factory pocket, like I suggested you can then use the factory trim ring for your Pioneer cd deck. You may have to trim this a little. If you need an extra one, I have plenty I'll send you one just let me know. What is the model of this pioneer?

Hi! Thanks for the reponse and p/n's. This is a Kenwood Excellon CD/MP3 going into the dash. Yes I have the factory pocket/brackets, however I'm not sure if my Kenwood is coming w/the plastic surround/bezel piece(bought used over ebay). Will the ring you speak of work for my Kenwood also?(just a single-din HU).

If so I'll pay for your trouble to ship it.THanks,-Jamie

Cool, you've got mail. Here's a pic, doesn't look like it's coming w/one. I don't like emailing people files they aren't expecting. :-)

O.k. looks like a KDC-X859, or X759. You will need the ISO trim ring for your install. I'll see if I can come up with one. Let me know when you get it.

Turns out the stereo came with the Kenwood trim ring. With that and the factory S13 pocket I should be good.

Just waiting on the pocket to arrive so I can secure this thing in. It's flopping around in there now.

Thanks,-Jamie

I would use the smaller of the two trim rings, for ISO mount applications

Ok... I thought ISO and DIN mounts were two seperate things... two seperate mounting 'standards', correct?

I just figured, DIN dash, DIN receiver, I should be OK.

I read your emails, do you need one of the smaller ones? Mail me you address, I'll drop one in the post on Monday. It's so light it can't cost more than a $0.50. I make sure to use a padded sleeve so it doesn't get all bent out of shape. Yeah when you install it the pocket and radio will be flush but the recess in the dash makes them both appear sunken about 1/2". Sorry. the good news is that when it's closed nobody will notice that it even there.
