I'm not much of an expert or even a novice about alarms, but there was a thread some time back. Give it a read.

I got the viper 690xv,and I love it. It is the 2way system with awsome range. The lcd remote tells you if anyone is doin anything to your car when the alarm is set. Got it for $269 installed

and/or yyou can get a quick release steering wheel system. i am getting that along with the viper alarm! and you can get a fuel cut switch that only you will know either where its located or put it with a bunch of other switches :) hope that helps you decide too! :thumbup

anything DEI is top of the line. if your looking for the viper series go the 554r and get it from asianwolf.com or they have others. but DEI rules

Personally find someone to install a compustar. I installed one .. Very, very tricky install.. These are nice because not many people know about the setup of them and they use a nice amount of relays. Vipers are great as well as anything dei makes , but many people are aware of the setup of the thing.. Especially if you're an installer.. Soo ... All in all ... I'd go along with hellion and just try to do ad many things to deter dem dieves ..

For the best security advice go to Google and type "Todd Ramsey on Security". Study this forum ......this is the forum of some of the best installers on the planet.

adding kill switches, removable steering wheel, along with an alarm is a super combination as well.

Yes, have someone install a kill switch....then Viper Security and then a brake Lock. No one will take this car with this combo unless they jack it up on the flat bed truck. With the internal siren you got another great advantage...it blows the F...ing ears out.

Haha.. Blow them ears!!! That's another reason you would want to get a mercury tilt switch , in case someone tries to flatbed the car ..

Most alarm just come with a dual zone shock sensor for light and heavy impacts.. This alarm wouldn't trigger if the car is tilted , only if it is hit.. You can also invest in a proximity sensor depending what area you are in .. Heavy traffic or light .. These usually have a 10 zone setting and they detect anything approaching you're car within a small radius .. Like 10ft.

The only downside to proximity is if a squirrel passes this thing will give a beep or beep, beep warning and you might hear this a lot ..

All in all , go all out .. Viper791 (has a lot of upgradeability)w/ dual proximity sensor(warning and full trigger)and mercury tilt switch for hood and trunk ( senses the hood, trunk or car being lifted or tilted) .. I would go for the detachable steering wheel and add a couple led scanners on the windshield for good theft deterrance..

Also, I wouldn't go for the brake lock , don't get me wrong it is surefire theft prevention, but things at some point will get a little "excessive".. If you have the alarm , steering wheel , brakelock , killswitch .. It will take you 10 min to start your car and at that point somebody might see you doin all of this and jack you right there.. I dunno , there's a lot of options out there fellow nicos .. Take your time and decide ... Now, to get this f**kin novel published!!!
