Hi everyone. I'm moving, and won't have the security of a garage anymore, so I'd like to install a car alarm/remote start. I am interested in the two-way pager style alarms that are everywhere on ebay. I like these because they offer many other options like remote start, trunk release, car-disable, turbo timers, etc, etc. Tons of features you can't really find on regular alarm systems.

Can anyone recommend a brand for the two-ways? I was very interested in the Mannix unit, but I can't seem to find them anymore(the reseller must have stopped selling them on ebay). This one had the longest range and most features. I think the most well known brand I was able to find was AudioVox..

Thanks!-Jamie

Oh BTW the website for the mannix I mentioned is http://www.mannixusa.com.

I'm not worried about the install, I'd just like to be sure there aren't any quirks about this model/brand. If you don't know of this one, can you recomend one?

Hi, thanks for responding! The Clifford alarms have been reccomended twice to me now, so I think that's what I'll go with. Do you have one?

The only problem with the lifetime warranty is it has to be installed by a Clifford dealer. I'm heavily involved in electronics and it's just something I'd hate to have to pay for.

You could always pay for the basic alarm features, and then install the options you want afterwards. That way you don't have to pay for the entire cost of labor to put the whole thing in and you get the end results you want. Or you could run wiring and mount the engine components(siren, hood-pin, Tach signal wire) to the suggested alarm mounting location and then take you car to the dealer to have the alarm put in. If the Installer feels the quality of your work meets or exceeds the minimum requirments of the shop they could connect to all of you wiring. Then maybe the wouldn't charge for as much time to do the installation.little time saving steps like mounting the LED where you want it and placing the valet switch in the right location, running the wires to the mounting location will make the actual install that much shorter. You could also run the antenna mount this to the glass on the front window and run the cable down the a pillar, just becareful not to pinch the wires in a metal clip that hold the panel on. mount the shock sensor and conceal the wires in electrical tape and or split loom tubing to make the harness appear factory. good luck!
