The car I had prior to the Altima was an Oldsmobile Intrigue, and its mirror fit OK onto the Altima. I liked the GM mirror because it had real reading lights that a passenger could use while the car is in motion without bothering the driver, and was only a tiny bit wider than the Altima mirror. But I couldn't figure out a neat way to route the wire from it, so I stuck with the stock Altima mirror. From this experience, it seems like the mounting "foot" for mirrors is at least somewhat standardized between manufacturers. Probably the better junkyards would have a selection of mirrors already removed from various cars to choose from.
