Hi, guys.

Since I've got my 03 M45, there are many issues such as a window, fuel gauge (still), cruise control, etc. I am a kind of sick to fix and concern the issues. Thus, I am considering to paint my calipers for a fun when the brake pads and rotors are replaced. It will be my Spring project. Can you guys recommand any color and good paints? By the way, mine is a white color with chrome wheels.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Hmmm ... I guess it depends on whether you want it to stand out a lot or not. :)

With a white car, I might consider making the calipers a very glossy white - if you want to make a definitive statement! To be more subdued, a glossy black or silver might look good too.

In terms of the type of paint, I don't know the answer to that. Clearly, you would need something capable of withstanding high heat! :yesnod

I am considering to have a gunmetal, white, or orange(?). There are many paint brands for a caliper but I don't know how long it can hold the color.

I used duplicolor's caliper paint, the spray can one. So far its holding up good and I used black. Depending on your skills you can use either the spray can or the brush on type. I tried both and found out that the spray is more accurate for me and doesn't show flaws easy. I've read other people using engine paint or anything high temp and even regular paint. Id rather use high temp stuff and not worry about it messing up and looking like s*** later. GL

How many spary bottles did you used for the job? I plan to buy 4 color spray, 2 clear coat, and 2 primers (if necessary).

Thanks.

1 can is supposed to do 4 calipers I think, I used 2 and make sure you read the directions and have good temps otherwise it wont cure correctly. Also if you can take off your rotors spray anything that rusts but make sure to mask anywhere the pads will touch. It wll help asthetically if they were to rust, don't want nice calipers and ugly rotors popping out.

OK, then 2 cans are enough. Don't I need a clear coat after painting the calipers ?

Don't need if you want a flat look, I put a clear coat on mine. That's why I say to read the directions, you have to follow proper in between dry times for the layers and what not, whether its painting it or applying clear coats.

I'm looking into this also with my new wheels going on... almost 100% going with the gloss black and considering black lug nuts and locks from McGard I found on Amazon!!

If I have a gun metal wheel instead of chrome, I would like to paint with red color.
