12.8 seems a little high to me. I would probably shoot for 11.8-12.0 max. As for the headgasket, pressure is pressure. Whether it be a T28 or a T88. It may flow more, but the pressure is the same. Also, are you going to use an OEM set of head bolts or switch to ARPs? With the stock head bolts and a stock gasket, I would be leary of exceeding 15psi. With some ARPs and a stock gasket I think 17-18 could be run safely with good tuning.

i was planning to go to 16psi with a better fuel pump (not decided exactly what yet) and bigger inyectors or safc and fount mount int. about the bolts i dunno if i need to go arp ill guess i just have to try.

check the local made exhaust manifold.

My opinion :

Headgasket Quality nor Brand has to do with "how much boost your engine will take". It's all in the tuning!

We have tuned raced and abused STOCK CA18DET's (on Microtech) without even pulling the cylinderhead off once!

Just my 0.02 cents.

14lbs on an S14 turbo with the stock head gasket, no problems. It's a tough lil bugger, if you are tuning the car well it will hold fine.

I ran 14psi on a stock HG with increased compression and poor tuning w/o a prob. I was running super high octane fuel though.

yeah. when considering the amount of boost the motor can take it becomes less of an issue of the headgasket and more of an issue of the actual lead lifting and the head bolts stretching. pretty much the only way you're gonna ruin a headgasket is by leaning the mix out too much and burning the gasket.

when I get my SR turbo on I plan on running 12 psi low 15 psi high and I really wouldn't wanna push my antique internal combustion device much further than that on the oem internals. Tuning is important, too... If you really want to run high boost on a regular basis you are probably going to end up breaking something eventually and rebuilding with forged stuff anyway.
