Can you guys recommend me some Blow-off Valves? Mine recently broke so I need to replace it just for the hell of it and I don't know what brands are good and what-not.

Currently I think I'm running an HKS BOV (I'm using the BOV that I bought the car with and looks similar to an HKS) and I was thinking of replacing it with another HKS SSQV Black edition. My cousin tells me to get the Turbosmart but I'm trying to find something thats more cost friendly.

I want some opinions on what you guys would get. I want something that sounds nice and is cost friendly. I see a bunch of HKS and no-name brands on Craigslist for a good price which is a good start.

I prefer recirc valves myself. If you go that route, consider getting a Forge Motorsports Recirc Valve.

Completely rebuildable, you can tune the internal spring rates to accommodate varying amounts of boost pressures, and it looks nice and shiny.

But since it is a recirc, you won't get the loud noises from dump valves.

well if you currently have a hks style mounting flange then it would be much easier to go with the new authentic hks ssqv4... unless you are willing to weld on a new flange/ buy a new hotpipe

I'm not sure what flange I'm currently using, from what I remember (currently waiting for my class to start) I think my BOV is directly welded onto my car. I'll post some pictures later.

If that's a case how much would it be to get a new valve welded in place?

Take it to a muffler shop in your area, shouldnt be more than 50 bucks. When i had my nipple welded to my intake pipe it was 15 bucks.

If you have a pipe and flange for HKS that fits good then just get a replacement HKS, and if you are vented to atmo right now and don't have stalling issues then stay like that otherwise recirc it. Whatever you do remove the little whistle insert thingie if it it comes with one.

a picture would honestly be the best way to answer this, but i highly doubt that you dont have a flange... if you dont, when you buy a new bov, have the flange welded on..

Alright, here are the pics I promised, I just got off work and I took these right before I went to work...

The whole setup:

Where my BOV broke:

The metal part where you conect your vacuum line snapped off.

If theres a way to fix it without having to replace my BOV, I'd love to know.

1. you do have a hks flange welded to what looks like your coldpipe
2. ditch the ebay bov and get an authentic hks (if thats what you want)

the 2nd picture doesnt really show much about how it is broken... but i would ditch that knock off, broken or not..

So since mines a knockoff, a LEGIT, HKS BOV should be able to fit on there fine right?

How much are you willing to let it go for?

Yes, the ssqv series 4 is out too... i am not a fan of the hks ssqv, but lots of people are..

synapse also offers their synchronic bov with the hks adaptor flange as well

I was going to get the SSQV black edition cause it was a little more in my price range. But I'm first going to invest in a Turbo Timer since I'm not running one at the moment.

That black edition one you're looking at is probably a fake if it's the ones on ebay selling for well under $200. A turbo timer is non essential.

I'm looking to buy on craigslist.

Turbo timer isn't needed, but neither is a BOV, I'd rather get a timer first cause I don't want to mess up my engine.

Actually I think a BOV is kind of needed since yours is broken.

Thats currently what I do, I just set a stop watch on my phone and just sit there. Only problem with this is I sometimes get late to class/work because of this, makes my life a little more easier I'd say.

I've seen videos of the HKS BOV changing noise? Thats just for cosmetic effects right? Nothing big?

Sorry for the double post, but I was reading up on the synapse syncronic on another recent forum that I just recently saw... Anywho I was saw that you recommended this with the anti stall kit? Would you mind telling me what this is and is it necessary for me to get the Boost Connect kit?

I'd honestly say a BOV is more important that a turbo timer. You really don't have to sit there and idle unless you've been driving the car hard... especially if you're running a kickass synthetic oil on an oil and liquid cooled turbo.

Turbo sneeze, however, will shorten the life of your turbo.

+1 to this... the reverb from not running a BOV will dmg the fins on the turbo...

I love when ppl are insistant on not running a blow off valve/recirc. if it wasnt neccesary then OEM wouldnt include a system to relieve boost on close throttle.

I've seen all the comparo videos on youtube about synapse vs the other... im not really impressed in the way they rig the pressure release times.

Blow off valve it is. I didn't realize the affects off not running a BOV, most of my friends that I've asked said it wasn't as necessary as a timer for whatever reason.

If you're running like... under 4 lbs of boost I'd say you can get away without a BOV. Even then its still a good thing to have
