i posted this up a week or so ago but i don't think my subject line caught too many peoples' attention.

I found a differential that was taken out of a '97 240 w/abs but the differential has no orange sticker. Would anyone know how i can find out if it is indeed a VLSD or just a regular diff?

stick 2 spindles in.Turn one.if the other turns the same dirrection then it is.

Your method will work sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. The viscous fluid has to heat up in order to work properly, but most VLSD will have enough friction to turn the other output flange the same direction.
