Having replaced my transmission at 85K last year, I suppose I must succomb and change the routing of the oil into an external cooler...

Does anyone have a particular manufacturer and model number that will fit in the limited available space?

Thanks muchKen K

B&M #70268 is a great fit next to the driver's side headlight.

A real common location is also between the radiator and AC condensor.

Is either of these two locations preferable to the other for any future work that might have to be done?

Also, is it necessary to drop the transmission to add the cooler and their new hoses, or just divert the original hoses to their new cooler? (If the new cooler needs to be dropped, are there any new gaskets that I would need?)

Thanks,KK

Just unplug the factory heat exchanger lines to the cooler, and plug up the new cooler..... No droppage needed...... No new gaskets or anything, it should be about a 1hr job!!!

I have also heard that a good place to put it is where the active suspension cooler is...... Somewhere like in front of the wheel well, drivers side...... Its apparently well ventilated, and easily accessable....... someone will have to confirm........

It would be a cool place to put it, but I haven't actually heard of anyone doing it yet. You really need the duct that goes from the vent in the bumper cover that would connect to the active cooler. Also needs a fan, and mounting hardware. I took the cover off, looked at it, and then decided that I like the simplicity of the "standard" installation better. Two fans already in place and no major change in the efficiency of the cooling system.

Can you elaborate on this location a little more? I haven't heard of putting in anywhere else besides the radiator...

Standing in front of the car, hood open. Right next to the driver's side headlight, attached right in front of the condenser, just to the right of the hood latch mechanism.

No need to remove the radiator or condenser, and it gets the cool airflow from the highpressure area next to the headlight.

Forgot... you have the 95 with a lot more open space in that area. I might pull the covers and see how it looks on a 90.
