hey everyone,

was looking to hopefully get some ideas on how you recirculated the waste gate dump pipe back into your exhaust.

I am using this JGS downpipe and WG dump pipe set.

Mine sounds terrible considering the dump pipe is no more then 2 feet long. Most practical way seemed to be putting an adapter after the jgs down pipe and before my megan down pipe. Then put a flange on the end of the dump pipe so that I can hook it into the adapter.

Anyways, how do you guys have it set up?

Thanks,

Tomek

you could take it to a muffler shop and have them cut it and weld a piece to go into your downpipe..

but it may restrict flow to the gate causing creep..

but why would you wana re circulate it? it sounds so nice dumped into atm. mines is also 2ft long and sounds really nice imo.

All you do is take your dump tube and weld it to your downpipe. Thats the way its done by pretty much everyone.

This has been a debated topic for some time. The way i see it, if your dump tube is strait with a minimal amount of bends, recirc will actually work better than open dump tube. The idea behind this theory is basically this. When your wastegate opens, there will already be a lot of gas passing through your exhaust system. This gas will actually cause a slight vacuum. So if your dump tube is connected correctly to your downpipe the exhaust will actually pull the gas out of the manifold and into the lower downpipe.

Sarcasm? The sound can not even be described. Its like the slaying of a thousand wild animals at the same time. At first it's cool, I feel like a barbarian. But eventually it just gets really annoying. Plus I kind of want to outfit the car so that I can actually have some sort of conversation in my car and I also dont want to be attracting PETA....

Yea welding it back into the JGS down pipe seems like its gonna be the easiest route. For anyone who has had this recirculation done. How is the difference in terms of how the car sounds before and after this recirculation. I would imagine it would be like night and day. At least I would hope it would be...

Just get a piece of 1.5 to 2 inch flex tube and a u bend. Cut your WG downtube and add the flex tube and use the U bend to connect to the exhaust. Thats how I ran mine and had 0 problems with creep or cracking.

like this

I think I got the flex tube from one of the sponsors Vibrant performance I think was the name. IT's been a while so I don't really remember. You don't even hear the WG after it is done this way.

Now did you weld flanges to each of these pieces to connect them or did you just weld all the pieces together? And also in terms of getting that u-bend back into the exhaust, is it just a matter of drilling out a hole in the exhaust and welding it to that?

Good to hear that it gets rid of the WG sound.

Just a flange on the wastegate. Your DP and WG DP will be one piece. Use a hole saw to cut a hole in the Turbo DP where the wastegate dump will enter have it welded up and you are set. The Flex tube makes it easier to get the DP on and off.

what size turbo are you using? and how often do does the wastegate open? on my rb25 I hardly ever took it to full boost causing the wastegate to open. mabye just keep your foot off it less.
