Hello All,

I just purchased an 06 m35x...I'm waiting on an owners manual. I noticed the key battery looked close to empty when I started the car...does the slot near the vdc button charge the key? If not, how do you replace the battery? Can the battery be purchased at any auto parts store?

Thanks

Just went through this with my 06 - Remove the key from the fob, and you will see a thin slot near the key opening of the fob. Insert a thin screw driver into the slot and pry the upper shell from the lower shell, exposing the battery and little pcb. Replace the battery with new lithium 2025 (pay attention to polarity). Sounds like it is time for a battery replacement.

The fob holder slot does not charge the battery, but it does boost the signal to make a marginal (or intermittant) fob functional for operating the car.

Hope this helps.....

All set...that was easy...I was nervous prying it open, but it popped open pretty easily.

Thanks for your help!

Had same issue. Go to Radio Shack or like store and get battery. You have to pop open key on side with a small screwdriver. (Less than $6). Should keep you going for a couple of years.
