actually i cleaned my injector contacts and it fired right up. i think we initially flooded it out, i let it set without the plugs in it for a couple of days, came back cleaned up the injector connections, charged my battery and it fired right up. i have someone here locally trying to help me trace all the vacuum lines to make sure nothing is unplugged.

160 with a new gasket seems alittle low. check that you have the pcv valve hooked up, since you had the timing cover off maybe you forgot to hook it back up?

see...i told u it was the injectors. now make sure they are seated all the way in. take something flat like and lightly pound the injectors til they are seated all the way.

check your egr valve. when you removed or installed the engine it could have gotten bent and could be half open. it is a pretty common problem being as though the egr valve is right were you lift the engine. also 160 psi does seem a little low, is this a brand new rebuilt engine? you should be looking for around 180-190psi if it is. I know I sound like a skipping record but check you timimg your cam timing again and make sure it is perfect. these ka engines are very picky about timing. it sounds like you are having the same problems I had when I rebuilt my ka24de and it was the timing the whole time, I swore up and down my timing was correct but it was off about 1 tooth and it would just spudder and stuff like that. good luck.

also this isnt a complete rebuild. i pulled the head with intake manifold still attached just to change headgasket and timing components. so everything that was attached and hooked up to the intake manifold was never removed or messed with.

did you check your pcv? the pcv goes from the manifold to the front timing cover so you would of had to remove it.
