Recently purchased J30, a few questions (radio display, sunroof)

Hi, I bought a 1995 J30 in January. I love it so far. I have a few questions about some minor problems. I'm aware that these are very common problems looking at the FAQ.

The factory bose stereo will sometimes not display. It will come on around 25% of the time, but there is a cd changer in the trunk. When this is in use the display will almost always be on. I read the other thread and saw the link where it said the fix was to open it up and replace a resistor. Does this sound like the same thing and the resistor would need to be replaced?

Also, the sun roof is not working properly. It will go up and down without a problem, but going back and forth it has problems. It will move, but only for a few inches and then get stuck. You can hear the motor working but you have to push it to get it to move. If anyone knows what the problem could be I'd like to fix it since it'll be getting warm soon. I'd prefer to do it myself and don't mind spending some time on it.
