Im currently about to turbo my ka-e and have been reading up for a while now.. Ive gotten almost everything I need.. All that im missing is piping and a rrfpr for now. My question is even tho I already have a sr20 SMIC, I dont have any of the required piping but was wondering if I could use the water injection for a while until I get my AFC and piping? Im only looking for around 200whp give or take 10-15 out of a t3 super 60... hopefully around 5-6psi... Any input would be great Thanks -Jake

p.s. hows this system look http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WD1V

i'm not sure i understood the question. are you asking if you can use water injection when not turboed? if thats what you're asking the answer is no. the system is activated with a pressure switch so if theres no boost it won't come on. not to mention it won't do anything for performance.

as far as the kit in the link, It'll work but you could build the same thing yourself for about 1/2 the price

best way to know is with a knock meter

plenty of people have run non-intercooler setups at about 7-9psi on t3/t4's. with water injections at the 200rwhp mark i think you would be fine without an IC

You’ll have to use strait water (no alcohol) without the intercooler

And when you do get one, don’t use the SR one

you will be fine with just the water injection to well above 7-9 lbs....water injection brings intake temps down 40-60degrees no problem if it's hot out like it is in AZ.

Wrong.

I boosted 9 psi for over a year without an intercooler, and just alcohol injection. I used methanol-water, 50/50 mix.

Engine was super clean when it was disassembled too. That stuff really keeps things clean.

Many early turbo production cars did not include an intercooler (such as the Chevrolet Corvair, early Ford Thunderbirds, and Merkur Xr4ti's.) So a non-intercooled, water injected low boost set up should be fine.

I have a question though, why isn't water injection on a N/A vehicle beneficial. Does it have to do with the compression of the water?

Thanks

thanks everyone... I've made my mind to go with the h20/meth injection... MarkEmark would you be willing to sell your kit if your not using it or at least the pump nozzle and press. switch? email [email protected] maybe you could just help me get some parts together.... thanks -Jake

its not as beneficial on an NA motor because they dont make nearly as much heat as a turbo motor.

the power comes from added resistance to knock. it gives you the ability to run more boost or add more timing without detonating, so if youre not detonating stock, adding water/alky won't do much.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on which pump to get and what nozzle? thanks -Jake
