Recarpeting the S13?

I know that one of the major reasons cars can smell so bad as they get older is because of the upholstery and carpeting. Do you think I could pull out all of my old carpet and put in some new carpet that was meant for a house? Or if that doesnt pan out I suppose I can get some house carpet and just completely cover the stock car carpet with new looking, better smelling house carpet.

Yeah but I wanted the nice feel of a house carpet like I am stepping into my second home when I get into my car.

I just did the carpet in my car with a formed replacement....It went well and cost about $100.00. Also be prepaired to re-place the under Padding/Sound deading material as mine was garbage. You can get that at any parts supply store for pennies.

I threw in three layers, to help deaden out road noise....so far it worked quite nicely, and the floor is soft an coushy.

i have no layers : ) bare metal : ), i often get on the highway, and hear the noise, and think somethings wrong w/ the rear of my car...till i remember that its just the sound of the car, lol, but it fools me every time...its looooouuuud w/out that stuff

The s13 carpet was a bi*** to get out. A few months back i inadvertantly ran through some flood water and the carpet padding was soaked. My car smelled like absolute dog ****. So i pulled the carpet, febreezed it heavily, let it dry completely and now it doenst smell.
