Is there any way to check a used car by vin# to see if all the recalls and updates have been applied to it or do I need to go to a dealer and have to pay to check?

The is no way to check yourself. You would have to ask the dealer this question... and you may not get any assistance from them at all. Reason: I do not believe it is normal practice for Nissan dealers to provide information about another owners vehicle. The exception might be used car inventory the dealer may have on their lot.

I just want the information on the used Rogue I just bought and want to make sure all the recalls and updates had been taken care of by the previous owner and or the dealer. I was hoping there was a site somewhere that provided this but couldnt find it. If there is not a way now to find out, there should be for safety and perfomance issues.

Well if it's your Rogue that you own, the dealer should be willing to look it up for you, free of charge I'd think. I mean, hell...I'd kind of think they'd be obligated to since the majority of automotive recalls in general are for safety items.

Your dealer will enter your VIN number and look up all outstanding recalls and technical service bulletins, and you can look the up yourself here:

There were a few minor recalls that should have been performed on 08-09 Rogue's in particular, but nothing too major, just give your dealer a call and they'll let you know and be happy to check for you.
