I got a notice in the mail today about a safety recall. The fuel filler tube may have insufficient coating at the lower mounting bracket and is susceptible to corrosion. On 97-01 QX4s

Anyone else hear about this?

Read something online a couple weeks back... that's about it though.

I got that recal notice about my '01 pathy about two years ago. I actually had one of those corroded fuel filler necks. Leaks gas when you fill it up.

I had it changed before the recal was issued though, but Nissan refunded my $500 as soon as the notice came out.

Qxxx4, we have the same recall at work, not all units are affected, but stopping by any nissan/infiniti dealership should be able to check if you are entitled to the recall by searching with your vin

The letter said it was issued for states that use road salt during the winter because that will corrode it faster. I assume they would issue it for all countries. Although Mariach said he got the notice two years ago and I'm just receiving mine now. Change of ownership might have made them send out a new notice?

can i ask u where it was (visibly) leaking? i think my dealer ripped me off on the inspection. To inspect it, shouldnt they have to take off a plastic panel in the wheel well? I brought mine into the dealer with the wheel well covered in dried up mud...30 mins later they "inspected" it but when i looked at the wheel well, all the bolts were untouched and still covered in the same mud and dirt and it looked like they didnt even take anything off

I never saw the origin of the leak, but you could see there was a drip inside the wheel well.I just started smelling gas one day, and the next morning noticed a small bit on the floor under the rear drivers wheel. I brought it into the dealer, he came back about 15 minutes later, and they replaced the neck. They actually had to remove the entire tank to do it! We have been going to the same dealer since my dad had his '92 and '97 Maximas, and we bought the pathy from them as well. He is a pretty good guy and never really dangles me around. So i trusted him when he said the work needed to be done. Then a few months later, I got a cheque for just under $500 in the mail from Nissan and a note from the dealer!

Yeah, got this in the mail last week. Did you get it done already?

Did you have to wait? or how long they had the truck for?

I emailed the dealership about it but they haven't gotten back to me. And my class schedule is a b**** so I'm gonna have to wait. I think the paper said it's only an hour job.

I got that letter around December '07 and had it fixed January of last year. It was about an hour job but my dealership (Infiniti of Lisle) gave me one of their loaners for the day so I didn't have to wait.

Recieved the recall notice quite awhile ago on my Pathfinder. Finally had it done last month. Took about an hour.

I had gas leaking the other day and called to get a price for the replacement part and only found out about the recall then.

Mine will be covered by Infiniti, got an appointment for next week wednesday morning, said it should take about an hour and they are replacing the filler tube, the clamps, vent hose and the rubber hose connecting the filler tube to the gas tank. Gotta be sure the tank is at lease empty to quarter full.

Hope they don't try to push some sort of cost to me.

401 Dixie Infiniti in Mississauga. Call the service line and say your calling in regards to the fuel filler recall. You'll have to provide your year and VIN number and they will check it against the recall to see if you vehicle is covered.

Then make an appointment and its all good. Heres the number: 905.238.5500, there located in the 401 Dixie Auto Mall
