Recall on Daytime Lights?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone got a phone call today in regards to a recall on the EX 2010 model for the daytime headlights?
I just got a message from the dealership, to come in for this. I don't know what it's about and what's wrong with my headlights. I haven't had a chance to call them back today, I'm going to try calling them tomorrow and ask. But I was just wondering if others have gotten the call too. I live in Calgary, AB. So don't know if it's a provincial thing or nation wide.
Thanks guys!

I wonder if it voids our warranty/recall if I have LED's in my DRL's and HID Kit installed in my headlights (Hole drilled through the cap and my ballasts are visible on each side if you open the hood). So far I haven't heard anything from the dealer, I wonder whats wrong?

I got a Letter regarding this issue.

It basically says that the Filament in the Bulbs of the DRL system may burn out due to a shorter lifespan than expected.

Infiniti will replace these Bulbs with a long-life Bulb.

I am to make an appointment to have my Bulbs swapped out.

I didn't know we have DRL's.

My 2010 doesn't have lights on while driving in the daytime.

You sure about calling this DRL?

John

It's a small bulb above the high beam bulb to the left in the headlights. As you can see I just replaced mine with White LED's

Just took these:

That's the parking light function. Not DRL.

DRL's are on all the time without you having to flip a switch.

Are you guys in Canada? Maybe a Canadian requirement, eh?

Yup.. we are in Canada... no doot aboot it. It just refers to the bulbs in the fog lamps, which are on all the time.

Canada does require DRL's. Now I don't know if the bulb in the Canada vehicles is the same as the US. DRL's historically have not been as bright.
I live in the US and have not gotten a recall notice on em.

Oh, for me they are on all the time. I thought the parking lights were the amber ones also use for the turn signal? But mine are on all the time even if the headlights are off, I can show a video of them on and yes they are not bright at all, they are very dim. I'm the U.S., from what I've seen on other US/Canadians cars they usually are slightly different. I was in Canada a few years back and owned a 2004 Maxima SE, above my factory fogs was an empty housing, when I saw the same car in Canada it had an extra bulb for DRL's but no foglight below.

Thanks guys!
I've left a msg with the dealer to call me back. Waiting for their reply.
If it's just replacing the bulbs for longer lasting then that's good. I prefer them to do that when I go in for my first service in March. Do you think there's an expiry for them to replace these lights?

Thanks EXceptional, I realized after sorting a pile of mail that was sitting on my counter for a few weeks that I two got the letter explaining why the recall. Oops, I should have read my mail earlier before posting to get my answer. Sorry guys! :chuckle:
