The alternator Infiniti of Scottsdale has for my Q is a rebuilt one. Is this correct?

Probably a factory rebuilt.

I know on steering racks they have OEM new and rebiots from Meridian for substantially less.

Don't think 3rd party rebuilt alternators are as comprehensively done, though.

The term rebuilt in Nissan OEM land is different than other things. As far as I know all Nissan rebuilt alternators have completely new insides, the only thing they reuse is the case... Other places just replace this and that, which a once a year alternator isnt a big deal on many cars but on the Q45/VH45DE its not a good thing since the alt isnt fun to replace.

Sounds good as I ordered it today along with Tokico blues, boots, bump stops, upper link, tension rod bushings, oil pressure sender, steering rack rubber mounts and steering rack boots.

Sounds like a great weekend. Might as well do the plenum and just get every job you never want to repeat ever again out of the way.
