I never really thought about it before, but I have access to a shop that can rebuild lifters (hydralic). I would be more than happy to offer this rebuilding service to the other members of the board. I only have one spare set on hand, so I would probablly charge the board members for the cost of rebuilding the lifters, plus shipping to you, and then some sort of core charge to ensure that I got your bad lifters back.

The question is, how many people are intrested? If I can get a few sets of lifters into them at once, I might be able to work a discount, which I would pass on to you.

Lemme know...

I *may* be rebuilding the CA in the spring (maybe regrinds and CP 85mm pistons), but I am wondering what exactly does a lifter rebuild entail?

Heck if I know, but when I get them back they look BRAND NEW. I would assume they dissamble them, replace the internals (just a spring and a ball bearing I think), polish up the outside and it's good to go? I know it takes some sort of special machine to take them apart. But like I said, they look brand new. I could put a rebuilt lifter and a new lifter side by side and you wouldn't know the difference, trust me, I tried it.

I've got another set that I'm taking down there today. I prob won't have it back till next week. Last time they charged me about $80. I'd charge you that, plus whatever it cost to ship them to you. They're not super heavy, so I'd guess shipping would be in the $10-$15 range. I would also charge you a fully refundable core charge on your lifters. OR if you want to save the core charge, send me your lifters and I'll get my set and your set done at the same time. Lemme know ASAP, so I'll know wheter to send this set out or not.

Email me HERE for shipping info.

Alright guys, I just got this last set of lifters back. I thought I would get you some pics so you know what you're getting. I didn't think to get any before so that you could have a comparison.

These are the lifters that I just shipped out to Boost_Boy;

So what do you guys think?

If you've got any extra lifters let me know as I'd like to buy them from you. I'd like to keep a couple of spare sets on hand for people.

Yup, I dropped them off at UPS tonight. I would guess that they won't actually start moving until Monday, but you should have them by the middle or late next week.

The orifices on the lifters are very small and prone to varnish/gumming up. The reduced oil flow can cause all kinds of problem. They can range from ticking on start up, ticking all the time, and if it gets bad enough, it can completely collapse and possibly cause damage to that cam lobe due to lack of lubrication.

I'm sure glad to hear this! Rebuilt lifters on my new engine. Sweet! Hey guess what?! Im starting to think about not upgrading the camshafts and just use stock valvetrain with small overlap and run easy with an sr t25 for starters. I could learn on that for awhile and later upgrade some more. I really want to just start driving it after the winter. Sports tires, 1.5 limited slip, adj. suspension, heavy duty clutch, and a lightweight flywheel (that came with the set) are some of the things i had in mind. I want to be able to keep up with my bro's h22 ek on high speeds and corners!

As I said before, i'm not exactly sure what they are doing. Infact, I'm not exactly sure how they work internally, but I do know that when I pulled mine out, I had a few that ticked like mad, now they don't.

Dash that link had some good useful information! Thanks! I'll use a lot of the stuff that was in there like priming.

Hey Ryan! I got the lifters yesterday. I got home from work and there they were. Man they look F-ing great dude! Thanks for the help! Now i wont have to worry about clatter and noises coming from the vavletrain.

BEFORE:

A really high detailed look at the lifters. Everything looks pretty good as far as visuals go.
