Well I decided to buy a used factory ECU because my chipped one does not have any lights to check codes & we have no check engine light! I Installed the factory ECU & checked for codes. I am getting a Code 11 - Crank Angle Sensor.

When I got the car back from the shop 8 months ago that installed the new Jasper rebuilt engine I noticed that the distributor was turned all the way clockwise & it looked to be in a different position then normal. I checked the timing and it was at 18, I know the 24e is 15 and the DE is 20 & I always ran it bumped up a few degrees so I did not worry about it until now that I checked codes.

I am old school (own a 67 GTO) & drove a 73 GP-455 before I bought my 240 in 1990 so I do not really know that much about Fuel injection, ETC.

If the Crank Angle Sensor is throwing a code could it just be that the distributor was installed in the wrong position making the distributor look to be in a to far advanced position even though it is at 17 degrees? Or is something really wrong & should I make the shop look into it?

Is it OK to run the way it is or will the Code 11 throw other things off? My millage on HWY is 28-30 at 70MPH but drops to 14-16 in the City driving normal & have to use premium with the chipped ECU.

Only mods I have is the ECU, Header, Air Intake, Magnaflow exhaust.

Why did I keep my KA Well I can always turbo it - after 19 years not buying a new car I deserve some fun!

THANKS FOR ANY HELP > > > >

I think 15 degrees is what's normal for SOHC, not 17 degrees.

Yeah I know it is 15 but I run premium & have a chipped ECU that says to set the baseline timing to 17.

You want it - IRON ?

I am so aggravated with the clutch problems I am also having also. It is a Jasper motor with less then 3000 miles that has a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. With a chipped ECU, new injectors, plus now a rebuilt Mans - Trans 5 speed with 350 miles. I have spent more on this freaking car then it is worth.

But I am the original owner and it is hard to sell the complete car.

I plan on that (LOL) Just wanted to know if that Code 11 could effect performance & if it the shop that installed the motor did something wrong or if the CAS could be picking up something not set in the internals and not the shop that put the distributor in the car that could be installed off.

TKS
