ive blown a piston on my ka24de and want to fully rebuilt it. i was thinking of maybe turboing it later on. Is it possible to upgrade your pistons, valves, etc and still be able smog legal? thats if i dont port and polish. but have like arp pistion and stuff like that.

The engine's internals will make no difference, as long as all the emissions crap is still there. Eventually though how are you going to get by the visual with a turbo sittin there?

If your not in cali and have a '95 or older car, get it to pass emissions one more time then do what you want with it. Even if you have a newer car, keep all of the factory emissions stuff: cats, egr, evap and you may be able to get it to pass.

also if you are going to turbo(boost) your engine, you could just get a stroker kit.

I'll have pictures in a couple weeks of a rear mount turbo system. Would allow you to stay legal except for roadstops.Just keep your stock intake piping to throw back on, and factory exhaust. So an hours of work to undo a couple bolts and make it look neat
