I have got an estimate on a remanufactured engine (Ka24de) At about $3,000.00 I was just wondering if this is a correct estimate or if I could find the same engine for cheaper somewhere else.... I am guessing it would be turbo ready and has a warranty of 3yrs with unlimited miles in that time... Thanks for your time.

you can find used engines for well under that price. a rebuilt engine will have more stable performance and compression most of the time, but weather it is worth 3k is up to you.

Yeah for sure I could find used engines or under that... But There is no guarantee how long they will last.. As to this engine is guaranteed to last three years no matter what I put it through, just as buying a new car.

I am pretty sure this is what I am going to do, I just wanted an insight on what others thought about that price...

are you sure of 3 year warentee, and i bet you that if you turbo'ed it, the warentee would be void. i would check that first man. if it all checks out, then you could do that.

Yeah I'll definately look into it. My thoughts to that are if it does wind up messin up on me then I'll just put the stock parts back on it and have it looked at, I don't know if it will show that I had a turbo on it after I strip it down but that's something that is just gonna be a go for it thing...

Do you know if once I stip it down they would be able to tell? Thx for your input

You'll still need to tap a oil return line into the oil pan. There will be ways for them to tell.

Basic turbo ready would mean lower compression pistons. Good turbo ready would be forged internals. 3year warranty on a rebuilt engine is unheard of; if that’s for real it means they are either really dumb, going bankrupt soon, or are very confident in their work. It’s been my experience that rebuilt motors don’t last as long as brand new. There are several reasons for this; more relaxed tolerances, rings/pistons come in a kit and may not fit the bore the same as when new... just to name a few.
