I rebuilt my Red Top Sr20det. Now I just started it up today and it has a nock. My Question is what does anyone think it could be? Some common problems that people have seen after a rebuild would be nice. I will be looking at it this weekend but I just wanted some ideas of what it might be.

So some background I installed new rods, pistons, bearings, valves, valve springs, new turbo, and almost everything else as far as internals go.

As for the nock, the weird thing about it is it is intermittent. it comes and goes and for the short time I had it running it didn't seam to have any relationship to throttle response or anything like that. It doesn't really sound like a lifter to me but that is the first place I will check.

Anything that anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thrust washers, oil pump not primed, lifters not primed. Lifters are an easy fix, anything else your looking at some repair work from the gate.

Lol I'm not a sr expert or a sr owner but I've seen a KA a knock, right after a fresh rebuild, and it was caused by the rod caps being on backwards. Just check and make sure plus you'll get a look at the walls and everything too...
