As some of you know, my first SR spun a bearing or 4 during the first 24 hours of its new life. I got a long block from XAT racing now so I can take my time with rebuilding the old SR.

My question is this, doing a complete rebuild, what parts would you use to put it all together? Maybe I'll make it a group project kinda thing where I take advice from everyone and put a motor together based on it, like a NICO SR. I'm not looking for outrageous, or something to handle 30lbs of boost, but something that uses a stock block and head with upgraded parts.

Top to bottom, what all should be utilized? I'm thinking about some CP 9:1 pistons, some foged rods/pins, good rings, thicker metal headgasket, water pump, oil pump, valves, springs, retainers, etc. I do want upgraded aftermarket parts, but I don't need top of the line.

Any suggestions on parts, suppliers, etc would be great.

Summit to get you those new head studs, only prob is that they won't be in stock until the 20th of this month.

Head gasket, 1.2mm metal will do you fine.

Gasket kit for the SR. Buying the complete kit will save you headaches along the road. I'm in the process of trying to find the intake collector and a few other gaskets that'll fit. Not all SE-R gaskets fit. Keep that in mind.

H20 Pump, that you can go with either stock or fork out 3-400 for the JUN.

Oil pump, OEM is just fine, although TODA Racing has switched to an external pump for their GT300 racer. Tomei's Derive uses the stock oil pump with a changed gear though.

You can model your engine after the Tomei Derive but that's alot of parts and procedures to list. Besides I've got a "How to build a Derive" manual on ebay done by the guys at Tomei. Hee hee hee.
