So I started to rebuild my rear calipers today and although I have two sets all four of the pistons are toast, they all have rust and bubbled plating making them garbage.

Can anyone point me to an aftermarket source for pistons only? I don't want to pay the $180 the local parts store quoted me for a rebuilt caliper, I'm perfectly capable of rebuilding them myself if I can get new pistons somewhere. I've found the Beck Arnley rebuild kit that includes all new clips and rubbers and I've already torn apart all four of my cores.

If trhere is no aftermarket source for these can I buy just the pistons from Nissan?

Thanks Nightsauce but I think you either didn't read my post clearly enough or you misunderstood.

I'm not looking for rebuilt calipers, I have two sets of calipers, I just want to buy new pistons or a rebuild kit that contains new pistons because mine are rusted.

The link you gave lists a lot of calipers but no rebuild kits or pistons.

you don't want to buy them from nissan. just get reman'd calipers, but not from whoever quoted you $180 a pop. that price is just ridiculous.

well they had rebuild kits just a few clicks away on that site. They have the pistons for the fronts... idk if they're the same or not, but if they are they're $9 or $11 without or with abs respectively. I just say get a reman and call it a day

Thanks Nightsauce

The rear pistons are different, I looked all over but didn't find them for sale anywhere by themselves. I was hoping to just buy them for $10 or $20 a piece and finish rebuilding my calipers but it seems like the consensus is to buy the remans as you suggested. Your link at Rock Auto shows then for $93 each which isn't too bad (half what my local place wants) so I may just do that.

Thanks for the link!

So I just ordered from Rock Auto, all four calipers for about $260. Not a bad price and I can just bolt them on.

if you're good with those then all the best to you. I went the more expensive route and got the z32 brakes. You can get used calipers for around the same price you paid, but you'll end up paying for rotors, etc...i went the most expensive route by going 5lug as well upgrading the brakes

At some point in the future I may go with the five lugs and a set of StopTech calipers but for right now I just want to get it back on the road without adding any extra complexity or cost to the process. I hadn't planned on spending this $300 for brakes so the solid driveshaft will have to wait a little bit, I've still got to buy a really nice clutch, shifter and a pair of seats too! Then there are the strut tower bars, a decent exhaust etc etc. it's starting to get expensive.
