Pay close attention to the piston. I don't think you broke a ring, but a piston instead. And that is caused by detonation or overly advanced timing, too much boost and not enough of a supporting engine managememt system to support the boost you're running.XTCshri2222 wrote:Pulled the piston out and found the ring was broken, luckly the cylinder walls were left unscaved, but what would cause something like that?
Dude, I got to post some photos of some busted pistons of mine from the previous 7 years:XTCshri2222 wrote:Pulled the piston out and found the ring was broken, luckly the cylinder walls were left unscaved, but what would cause something like that?
outch thats painfullboost_boy wrote:Dude, I got to post some photos of some busted pistons of mine from the previous 7 years:
The one on the left is a wiseco piston. It doesn't matter what piston you go out and buy, if your pushing your system past it's limit, BLAAAAAM!

Yeah, well I got a GA16i that came out of a car I purchased and that thing tore two rods from the crankshaft, through the block, and then wedge itself between the downpipe and the cross member and the car was stock/auto. Don't talk about the piston (piston what?)float_6969 wrote:Still not as good as the piston that I pulled out of my 2.4L in my old Ford Tempo. The engine caught fire and I melted the #4 piston IN HALF. ( I mean that in every sense of the term)
