I can't believe that his first reaction is to put his arm up to stop this!

I listened to a Marine Captain, a JAG (Judge Advocate General) talking about his job in Iraq. He takes a checkbook around from village to village and writes checks to people who claim they have suffered damages from the American presence there. Everything from bombed schools (which may have been true) to a goat that was run over by a vehicle (unidentified vehicle) to damage to houses that the citizens caused as soon as they heard that they were giving money to rebuild.

Let me ask this again. Why are we (the US taxpayer) paying to defend (protect) a country with the 2nd largest known oil reserves when those buttnuggets are raising the price of crude daily. Take the damn oil from them and pay them a fair value for it, and if they don't like it, they can defend leave Iraq.
