Car: 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe

I have a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe. I'm wanting to get more horsepower from my car but my engine has a good bit of miles on it. I was wondering if I had the engine rebuilt if it would be possible to replace some of the parts with performance parts instead of oem or fixing parts that need to be and can be fixed. Please share your input.
