Rebuilding brake caliper,HELP!

I am rebuilding the brakes on a 240sz 1990 and the problem is getting the dust cover back in place.I can get it in the groove designed for it but the cyclinder will not go into it,i can place the dust cover on the cyclinder first but than can't get the dust cover into the proper grooves,HELP!!
