hello, i recently got a free nissan 240 SX LE, i fell in love with the car when i saw that it wasent common hatchback. the frame is cracked and the under body is starting to rust out. i am planning on rebuilding it from frame up using factory and aftermarket parts, plus im looking at a sr20 from a smacked up 240 (only has 1,200 KMS on it with a 3rd stage clutch kit and 6spd transmission!)

just from a glance of the situation what am i looking at getting myself into on a scale of 1-10 for difficulty of what im doing... im also a novice mechanic but i will have some more experianced people giving me a hand

10 - there isnt anything much harder or more expensive than starting with a car that you have to strip to the bare frame to make major repairs to. But if you have the time and resources or friends with the resources the go for it.

BTW there is no such thing as a "3rd stage clutch." A specific brand might offer different clutch packages for the same car and say they are different "stages" or levels of performance, but there is no standard level of performance that a clutch of stage x has to meet. So anyone can make a clutch for a specific car and call it a stage 100 if they want, but it may not even perform as well as an OEM clutch. So to keep from sounding stupid just say the brand of the clutch/pressure plate, and then if you really must you can tell everyone what "stage" it is.

whoooot..in the same boat

91 le..i love the fully loaded options..except someone ganked my ac compressor and switched it to a non-ac serpentine belt..(yes i was shocked)

but this sounds a little too much for the average thing..i'd say part out..or look for a fully prepped shell..

i only have little rust spots on the inside rockers and a hole the side of a half dollar in the transmission tunnel, but im gonna end up paying half of what i payed for the car to have it patched up and re-undercoated

Dont be so shocked, I probably would have done away with the a/c too, and possibly the power steering. Probably not if i was planning to sell the car, but thats just me.
