Hey have a 1990 Nissan 240sx that i bought off some lady for 400 bucks this past summer. After i got it the engine went at 2am on the rainiest day of the summer while i was in the third lane on the highway. I got a new engine but found out that they shipped me a DOHC instead of an SOHC so i needed about 600 in crap for the conversion. I then found out that even with all that crap i still needed to pay 900 to install it. So i gave up on that and dicided to just find a SOHC and trade it for my DOHC. i drove 2 hours with the engine in the back of my dads Rodeo to the junk yard and after taking the engine out they tell me they can only give me 50 dollars for it after they said they could do an extange. So i just tock the SOHC and had it put in, the car ran great but when i decided i should change the oil i found that the oil was too freak dirty for me to do an engine flush so i changed the oil time and time agian until it was finally clean enough. Now i had to work on the body of the car. The thing had rust all along the side skirt and rear fender, i found a body shop that would fix the car and allow me to pay them over time. I got some Tein S.tech Springs and 17" Gold ADR's with a silver lip and intended to paint the car high gloss pearl white, but the day i got my rims and springs my friend got into an accident. Some lady on a cell phone hit the passanger side door along with some damage to the rear fender. The insurance company said if i wanted any money for repairs i would have to give up the car as a total loss. So i dont get anymoney for the damage but i keep my baby. Now i need to know where i can find a shop in Boston that will paint my car because that other shop will only fix the body damage. Can anyone help me? i've spend to much time and money on this car to give it up now.

Yeah he was, but i can't ask him to help pay for the damage because he is having a baby with his girlfriend, had to drop out of school to get a job to support him and his girl and he struggles to pay his rent. So is all on me now, i had it looked at by a body shop and they said 2000 for the body work. So i might just have a 240 yard sale but i'm not sure yet.

Wait so someone hit your car and you get nothing for it? That doesn't sound right at all. WHat you do is let them total it then buy it back. No sence in getting out of it with absolutly nothing. Good luck though whith whatever you do. Also you could probly replace the door cheaper than having it fixed depending on severity of the damage.

I think I'd just let the insurance company buy it and find another one. How much have you invested in the car so far vs. what the insurance company was gonna give you?

Yeah i was thinking the same thing but its been such a pain to find a 240 coupe around here for a good price. I've put in probably about 1000-1500 on the car so all the mechanical parts are in good working condition, but the insurance company will probably give me between 600-1000 because of the body damage on the car and the miles on the car. I dont think they will care that the engine has about 80.000 miles are care about any of the other things i've done to it. Plus it has an LSD on it that is still in sound working condition that i can't afford to lose.

the insurance company will give you waht the car was worth without the body damage. If you have the receipts to the motor and lsd, you can get the money for those too. Let them total it, and then buy it back. Use the extra money to fix the body damage and repaint it

well when my 90 coupe was totalled out it had about 87-92K miles(can't remember) and just some rust on the rocker panels(side skirt area). They gave me $3,500 for it which since my loan on it was only for $1950 after my deductible and everything was paid I still had 1k left over. They wanted $600 to buy it back and i still kick myself to this day for not doing it even though at the time it seemed too much of a loss(entire front end was smashed). Why won't the insurance company fix it, it sounds like they should be getting the money from the other insurance company, unless they claim it is because your friend was driving and not you or the other person had the same company(they don't like it when that happens).
