I've had several KAs rebuilt. Both at Machine Tech in Oceanside, and Ed Hale in El Cajon. Both are excellent. JWT also recommends Ed Hale. However, Machine Tech builds exotic race engines (4000+ HP), which is where I had my personal KA built at. At just 17.5PSI it made 411WHP with the 8.5:1CR Ross pistons.

17.5>14. Sounds like you should go to Machine Tech.

Pornflakes... how much did it cost to rebuild your engine at machine tech for it to be able to handle 17.5psi?

The shortblock work and assembly (clean, flux, measure, bore, hone, balance, assemble, etc...) was around $550. A shortblock is the lower end of the engine (not including the head).
