rebuilding an engine is easy and at the same time, it can be a daunting task. I've helped rebuild a mitsu V6, and I've torn down, and am beginning to rebuild an old L28 that's been overbored.
anyways, when you tear the motor down, you'll need to inspect the bearings, the journals, the pistons, and the piston rings. Replace as necessary. Get some engine assembly lube, you will need it. Torco makes a product that I really enjoy using. I think it's called MZ engine lube. The lube will stick to the metal, and looks like it's a thick gel, but it feels like a normal lubricant.
Make sure you have an FSM for the motor. You will need it for torque specs and patterns.
