local is your best bet, unless someone lives relitively close to you and has delt with someone you might be in luck.

Call around and see what you are working with. Might wanna contact Mack @ Mckinney they have a shop that deals with their RB's.

If its like TN they say RB wat?

I did my engine myself, Had a machine shop check the clearances and bore the block, but built the motor in my garage. Good luck finding someone.

How is that not a real suggestion? Coolwhip's reply was just a waste of time and not helpful, huh? Not everyone lives around your area that could tell you which shop to go to or not.

Like Coolwhip said, call Mckinney. Or if you'd like it on the east coast try Top Hat.

I appreciate the suggestion. I never thought of looking locally? I have had many problems with mckinney, seems like if you dont live near them they could give a $#!* about you or your time.

Really?

Although I haven't been a customer with Mack he has always extended the effort to anwser questions.

I've also seen him always provide immediate assistance with anyone that has problems here on the boards.

Anyways, good luck with your search

If I can teach myself how to rebuild an RB, it is possible for you to do the same. Just take lots of pictures, read a book on engine building, buy an inside micrometer large and accurate enough to mic the rod journals and bores, leave the machine work to a local shop. Just make sure you give them detailed instructions because usually they're morons.

You are the best machanic that you know--no one is going to take as much time or be as careful and you could be. Like rb25drag did. have a local shop check your clearances

Mack is a good guy, never had issues with their service.

The RB isn't some magical JDM motor that only the greatest nissan techs from the 90s era can work on. it is the same as any other motor, so any decent machine shop can machine it provided the proper specs, aka the FSM.
