Hey, I am new to the forums, and just bought a sr20 s14 engine and transmission that I am looking to rebuild from the ground up. Right now I am driving a 97 Talon TSI AWD , but am sick of the problems with the DSM's and want to get into Nissan's. I want to build an engine and transmission to handle around 500 or more horsepower to the wheels, I don't plan to run it quite that high, but I don't want to have problems, like I am with my Talon, and want to make sure it can handle a lot. If anyone can tell me what all I will need to complete the build to handle this it would be great. I know I will obviously need forged rods & pistons, titanium valves, and retainers, bigger fuel pump, and all that, but if someone can list everything, and some good brands and parts to use it would be awesome. Also some good places to order the parts wouls be great too!

I can tell youre a DSM guy. transmission just needs a clutch and flywheel. :D Crazy AWD transmission problems.

If youre looking to run 400 WHP-450WHP you wont need rods and such, id just reccomend some upgraded head work to give your head some reliability as the SR is the ole' Rocker Arm setup and tends to float in the highend and displace itself.

Honestly, I dont think anyone should just hand you a setup, it should be YOURS. Research it out man.

Those are the sites I visit.

Youll, need more fuel, some fuel management, some way to measure the air, bigger turbo and the supporting mods. Have fun.

The 240SX is a blast. :D

Wow, that is good news it should be cheaper to build then I expected. I can't wait to get started on it. And by no means am I a DSM guy, haha I can't wait to sell my Talon, and get on with the 240. Thanks a lot though it was a great help.

yeah i have seen 400ps cars with stock bottom ends. if you want 500 that is pushin it and i would go ahead and get the forged stuff. also a good idea would be to balance the crank. yeah valvesprings retainers cams and RAS and all that good stuff too, intake fuel rail, bigger injecters, EMS, Turbine, the things you can do to your car are endless depends on what you really want and how much time/money you have to spend. get with a good tuner that has a lot of technical knowlege about engines in general and they should be able to put some guidelines down for what you really want to do. if you want to be really competitive in a certain area ie drag or drift you are goin to have to set up your car for that area of motorsports.
